A few years ago I was in a spiritual crisis not feeling adequate or good enough. As a seeker I decided to do something about it. I saw the book “Now Discover Your Strengths” by Marcus Buckingham and it was the fact that it was compiled from a survey the Gallup poll did of 2 million people that sold me and I bought it.

In a nut shell, they distilled the research own to 34 innate strengths that people are born with. Some may be undeveloped but it’s our inherent nature. They created a very awesome kick ass online test that you get a code for when you purchase the book. Then it spits out your top 5 strengths.

At first I was disappointed that the ones I thought I “should” have weren’t picked, but then I decided to just go with the 5 that they chose. I wrote out each blurb and put it on my wall in my office and wondered what life would be like if I had a job that tapped into and developed each of those strengths! It took my breath away thinking of it. And today I realize that network marketing is the job! How exciting is that?

This exercise was a real turning point for me in my personal development. I saw myself differently and began the process of flipping around what I saw as a negative in myself as an actual strength.

For example, one of my strengths is “Maximizer” where I can take something already good and make it superb! I used to be damned and called “anal” and “trying to be better” when in reality I was exercising this amazing strength. I did a gymnastics birthday party for one of my kids. I made a flat cake into a gym with licorice trampolines and sponge toffee foam pit. Sweatbands with their names in glitter for party hats and felt drawstring gym bags for goody bags. Not anal. Maximizing!

Today I am so happy to remember these 5 strengths: strategic, learner, relator, woo and maximizer. I am excited to re-read and remember and begin to strengthen them in harmony and apply to Network Marketing and see where it takes me!
