(Notes From A FB Live Sept 26 2018 ~ Click to Watch)

I was riding my motorcycle last night and a car came onto the road from a strip mall and I had to use my back brake to not hit him and wipe out!
It got me thinking of what the story would be of the driver, the car in oncoming traffic, the one behind me. All different and who would insurance believe?
I remember the lesson I learned from an intersection. Imagine a 4 way intersection where two streets cross over. “+” There are 4 people each one standing on a corner. There is a big messy accident in the middle. The police question each person and they all give a different story. They are ALL right because each one saw it from a different perspective.
This lesson has really helped me learn to be open minded. I am developing an attitude and a practice of checking in with what has happened for the other person. Just because we have witnessed the same event doesn’t mean we have the same experience. Just like the people in the intersection, perhaps they were approaching the situation with a different understanding of the outcome and were surprised, just like me.
Or perhaps it was an honest mistake and suddenly it was perceived as intentional! I remember driving my car and glancing in the side mirror to check what was happening behind me and then looking forward only to discover the car in front of me had virtually stopped! Ack! I was exercising good driving practice!
I am really trying to develop a habit of “just get curious” and “not enough information” when I feel that tension in my belly so I can live a more peaceful joyful life and be a better communicator. It also ups my safety factor especially when riding or driving because I am vigilant in assuming that others may not be paying attention to my perspective and therefore may not see the potential danger.
The one thing I love most about “just get curious” is I get to expand my world and learn in a way I could never do on my own. Happy Smile.
